Hey, gang! Today we’re going to be discussing holiday attire and what’s appropriate for your various holiday occasions. It seems that many offices have their parties right after the work day concludes, leaving you guessing when selecting your outfit. The same can be said for weekend parties at event locations or the classic party at one’s home. What’s actually appropriate and what’s not? On “Style Cents,” we’ll be detailing four different outfit options that are appropriate for the various holiday party settings. Be sure to tune in LIVE if you’re in the local area to WCHS News Channel 8. For those of you viewing from afar, stream live here. You’ll be happy to know that at least two of the three outfits detailed below are available in both plus and petite sizes. I had the images Photoshop pinboard ready, but then my computer crashed. Just my luck! Enjoy these generics!
For an office chic look, pair this peplum with a plain, black skirt and black pumps. Exchange the skirt for something a little more flashy, add a belt, swap the safe look for a little glitter, and you’re after-office ready! Both the top and skirt are available in petite, plus and tall sizes. To find your perfect size, simply type in the description, zip front peplum, and it will populate the different sizes. For a different top option, try this or this. I love this timeless belt here.
Make sure you take advantage of JCPenney’s “Cyber Week” specials, codes located at top banner, and Payless’ 15% off code, which you can find listed on their mobile app!
I love being able to create an updated outfit with something very classic. This dress is perfect for the office, for giving a presentation, attending church, or even a wedding, but it could also be paired with the right accessories and transformed into a semi-formal look. By adding statement shoes and jewelry, that look can be easily created and you’re getting more wear out of your closet. Each of those things – clothing and jewelry pieces – can be paired with something else, and that’s where you get the most bang for your buck! Dress available in plus size, too. Find here.
If you’re a Macy’s STAR Rewards member, make sure you use your 20% off entire purchase code, which can also be found on RetailMeNot.com.
Although this is a more 20s, early 30s style outfit, I couldn’t resist. It’s perfect for an in-home party, because it’s easy to sit in while still feeling comfortable. It offers a holiday party look and is equally appropriate for a New Year’s Eve gathering. For an added bonus, each item can easily be paired with other items in your closet. Plus size jackets can be found here and here.
I’m a huge proponent of shopping local when possible, and this outfit is inspired by local boutique 218. They ship all over the U.S., but April, an amazing stylist, and will make you feel as though you’re shopping in the store even if you’re only ordering over the phone. She goes above and beyond to make her clients happy, and she would be honored for you to represent 218 at your holiday parties this season! Contact her here. And … if you watched the segment last night and saw my best friend and model, Tia, she was wearing full-on 218. Her peplum was $42 and is perfect for almost any outfit combo and the jacket is Blaque Label and is $134, but is made of quality, quality materials. It’s timeless and a jacket you’ll wear many times throughout the years!
And last but not least, gala/black tie attire. I wore this for on-air, and it was a hit! This Halston creation is the definition of timeless! It would be a stand out in a pageant or at prom. This is unlike anything I’ve ever seen and is true red carpet attire!
Styling you Spectacular with holiday cheer,
XO – Talia
