Recently, I was preparing for a funeral service and this outfit was what came together. You may be thinking that it’s not quite funeral appropriate, but I may do an upcoming post on contemporary funeral/viewing/wake/calling hours attire. Etiquette used once dictated that mourners be dressed in black from head to toe, but that is no longer the case. Things have changed and depend on factors such as your area, the person you’re paying tribute to, etc. In my case, this was the perfect look as snakeskin was a favorite of my dear, dear friend. You can read more about her here.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I try my very best to only wear clothing that accentuates my positives. If I’m wanting to look at my skinniest, I’m going to opt for a long, flowy tunic and skinny pants or jeans. My legs are long, fortunately, and they’re an asset that I’m comfortable accentuating. My hips are another story. That is not to say I never wear hip hugging skirts or dresses, because I do. I make sure that the eye is not drawn to my hips and the silhouette is something I’m comfortable in. While selecting an outfit I often ask myself: “Would my mother be ashamed if she saw me in this?” If it’s too tight or too short and I’m questioning myself in the least, I don’t wear it out; it gets pitched in the sale pile. I will disclose more on my sales in the months to come.
I bought these shoes in the summer, knowing they would be a fun piece to coordinate a winter outfit around. I never envisioned the top and pants complimenting my discount heels so well. The top, as I said, is from TJMaxx, and I purchased it probably six months ago. I’m always on the hunt for next season’s finds just as stores are ready to push them out the door. I also purchased these pants, a steal at less than $5.00, while shopping for a client.
If you’re wondering if I do personal shopping, the answer is yes. That’s the best part about my business: I find amazing deals and pass them onto my clients while out and about. Almost all of my fashion posts to date have only links for similar items because I do find such great deals. They’re a dime a dozen and almost impossible to replicate. With this post’s replicas and exact matches, a total recreation would cost you $115.00. Who says you can’t look good on a budget?
Styling you Spectacular,
XO – Talia
